A citywide tactical alert was issued Friday around 1:20 p.m. in Los Angeles after a Los Angeles police officer was shot, authorities said.
According to NBC4, a command post was set up at the intersection of 48th and Western streets in south Los Angeles.
The officer was reportedly part of the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Division.
NBC4 learned that the officer was delivering a warrant to a house on 48th Street when he was fired upon by a man described to be in his 30s. The officer radioed for help.
The officer was transported to a local hospital, and a 15-square-block area in the Crenshaw District in south Los Angeles continues to be shut down while officers look for the alleged shooter.
