Louisville police officer injured in crash

A Louisville Metro Police officer is in critical condition after he was in an accident Sunday night in Oldham County.

Officer William ?Matthew? Bower, 29, was driving west on Montfort Circle when his Jeep Grand Cherokee left the road and struck a utility pole, said Officer Matt Cornell with the Oldham County Police.

Bower, who lives in Oldham County, was off duty at the time of the accident.

Bower is in critical condition this morning at University Hospital, according to hospital records. He was flown to the hospital last night after the accident, Cornell said.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident, which happened about 9 p.m., Cornell said.
