Two Floyd County Sheriff's Deputies were shot outside a home located in the 6000 block of Rachel Court in Georgetown, Indiana. The incident occured at about 6:30 p.m. One of the deputies, Frank Denzinger, died from his wounds at University Hospital.
"At 6:17 our dispatcher received a call for help from 6004 Rachel Court here in Edwardsville on a domestic with a 15-year-old fighting with his mother," said Frank Loop with the Floyd County Sheriff's Department. "We dispatched two cars. At 6:28, neither car had gotten a chance to say that they were there. At 6:28, we had officers call and said two officers had been shot. Deputy Joel White , a 17 month veteran, radioed dispatchers and stated he and Deputy Frank Denzinger had been shot with a high-powered rifle from a subject inside the home. He told dispatchers his leg "was completely destroyed" and was "losing consciousness." He said that Deputy Denzinger was unconscious and hadn't moved since the shooting. Deputy Denzinger had been with the agency for 4 years.
A search for the 15 year old suspect, Tyler Dumsdor, is still underway and involves multiple southern Indiana law enforcement agencies as well as Louisville Metro.
