LMPD officers were forced to shoot two pit bulls Tuesday evening after the dogs attacked a man in west Louisville. It happened at the intersection of Cecil Avenue and Greenwood Road around 7 p.m.
Three pit bulls had trapped the man on top of a car after the attack. The dogs attempted to attack officers upon their arrival and had to be put down. 2 of the pit bulls were killed, the third pit bull escaped and remains "at large".
No other injuries were reported from the incident.
The attack comes on the heels of a new dangerous dog ordinance expected to become law in the next few weeks.
Abramson is expected to sign it into law sometime in the next few weeks.
