Law enforcement is a hazardous profession. Officers voluntarily put themselves into potentially dangerous situations in order to protect and serve the communities in which they live. Consequently, they must constantly educate themselves about the dangers they might face and how to minimize those risks.
Officers are very aware of and prepare themselves accordingly when engaging in vehicle pursuits or responding to domestic disturbances. But what about those "regular" runs that monopolize the majority of a police officer's time? Most officer's unfortunately develop a complacent attitude when responding to repeat burglar alarms, report runs and even traffic stops. Many officer's have found themselves ill prepared to deal with a rapidly escalated situation because of their initial "low-risk" assessment.
A new video library has been recently completed that will allow you to view, discuss and learn from some of the Law Enforcement's most dramatic videos caught on tape. Each video is accompanied by all the available background information about the incidents that are available. The library will be updated regularly with videos as information is gathered.
The videos are in no way making an assumption as to the officer's state of mind or risk assessment judgment, rather it is a reminder to all law enforcement officer's that dangerous situations can quickly evolve from seemingly "low-risk" situations.
