A Louisville Metro Police officer was badly injured in a head-on collision just before 8 a.m. Friday Morning. The Driver of the other vehicle, Margaret White, listed in stable condition with facial and head injuries.
The accident occured at the intersection of 28th and Magazine Streets in Portland. Officer Carmen Douglas was looking for a stolen vehicle area when her vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Impala traveling north on 28th Street.
Officer Douglas was trapped inside her vehicle before rescue crews were able to remove her.
According to witnesses, "the officer was really banged up ... couldn't even tell us her name. She was just moaning, and it looked like she could've been pinned."
An investigation is being conducted as to the cause of the accident.
