A Louisville man has died after the vehicle he was in went out of control during a chase by police in south Louisville.
Officer Dwight Mitchell says undercover Metro Narcotics officers were attempting to make a drug buy from three people in a Chevrolet Suburban at about 2 p.m. Monday.
Mitchell says when the detectives approached, the driver of the Suburban took off, and two or three unmarked police cars followed, trying to stop it.
The SUV backed into a car before speeding away.
The driver apparently lost control of the Suburban in the 2200 block of South Park Road near Minor Lane Heights, and it flipped several times. Mitchell says two people inside were ejected, and all three were taken to University Hospital.
Deputy Coroner Jim Wesley says 28-year-old Ray Ware was pronounced dead at 3:29 p.m.
The other two occupants, a man and a woman, suffered what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
