Officer Dewey Vincent was seriously injured yesterday after being struck by a car while investigating an accident at the intersection of Bardstown and Hawthorne. The incident occured around 7p.m.
Officer Vincent was struck by a Ford Taurus station wagon while attempting to cross Bardstown Road. He was taken to University Hospital where he remains in critical condition. No charges were filed against the driver.
Officer Vincent has been with the police department for 5 years and is currently assigned to the 5th division on 3rd platoon. Prior to joining the police department, Dewey served 25 years with the Louisville Fire Department and retired with the rank of Captain.

Officer Dewey Vincent's condition continues to improve. Dewey had surgery on his anlke today and is not allowed any visitors. We will notify everyone when he can receive visitors.
