Kentucky law enforcement agencies are sending officers to the Gulf Coast to help keep order in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
According to a release from the Justice Cabinet, about 50 Kentucky State Police troopers, ten vehicle enforcement officers and 15 corrections guards will leave soon for work in Louisiana and Mississippi.
The first complement of troopers will be sworn in as Louisiana law enforcement officers and may also assist in Mississippi.
The correctional officers will be assisting with the emergency correctional operations in Louisiana.
