James R. Collett, 38, of the 1800 block of Frankfort Avenue, died after struggling with an Audubon Park police Officer.
About 7 p.m., Sgt. Jim Sherrard, was heading south on Preston Street when he observed Collett in the middle of the road acting strangely. According to Sherrard, Collett tried to jump on a passing truck and attempted to enter other vehicles.
Sgt. Sherrard quickly got Collet out of the street and during questioning, a struggle insued. After Collet was restrained he began to appear lethargic and had troubles breathing.
EMS Transported Collet to University hospital where he subsequently died. LMPD Homicide is investigating the incident.
