The Louisville Metro Police Department has promoted its largest group of police officers in its history. Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson and Police Chief Robert White swore in twelve new lieutenants and 22 new sergeants on Friday.
The department is looking at hiring about one hundred new officers this year. It has had vacancies since the old city and county departments merged two years ago.
It is also trying to attract officers from around the country to Louisville.
