A Vote For The Good Guys

On Wednesday afternoon Terrance Mason, the bad guy, was in an alley in New Albany with a gun. Someone flagged down a good guy, police officer Daniel Price. He told the bad guy to freeze, Mason didn't and shots were fired. Those are truncated but undisputed facts up to this point.

Now some people want to know who shot first. Shame on them for even asking that question. I hope that Officer Price shot first!

Here's a bad guy waving a gun around and putting innocent, law-abiding people in danger. Suddenly we need a hero. Along comes a cop and he jumps into harm's way to protect some perfect strangers. He gets shot doing it and what do we do once the danger has passed? We ask if he followed all the proper procedures and whether he shot at the bad guy first.

Every police officer needs to know that they are entitled to protect their lives while they protect us.

There are rules of a civilized society, folks. You don't pull a gun on a cop. You don't run when they tell you to stop and you don't shoot at them. If you do, you are responsible for what happens.

What Officer Price did was heroic and brave. We should be organizing a parade for this guy, not second-guessing him.

I'm Bill Lamb and that's my Point of View.
