Important Information About Your Health Care Benefits
Brothers and Sisters,
Today members of the FOP #614 E-Board had a meeting with representatives of
Louisville Metro Government and the office of the Mayor. The meeting was called
by the City to discuss Insurance and Benefits with open enrollment.
The Mayor has decided to unilaterally and arbitrarily to drop the two (2)
FOP only plans which are: Humana FOP KPP 400 and Anthem FOP Blue Access. These
plans are mandated by the FOP contract with the City.
Metro Government is in direct violation of the FOP contract, by making such
an unwise decision Metro Government apparently feels it is above following
work agreements, and is showing great disrespect to our membership by violating
the agreement.
There are currently 577 members that are current participants of the two effected
FOP plans.
The Contract is very clear; it requires Metro Government to offer the two
FOP plans to the membership.
Those officers who are participants or were waiting for open enrollment to
become participants in the two FOP plans that are in question due to Metro
governments total disregard of the contract and disrespect to the membership,
please do not fill out the medical insurance portion of the open enrollment
forms until you hear further from the FOP.
Those members that are participating or wanting to participate in the other
health insurance plans :Anthem Preferred (HMO), Humana KPPA (HMO), Humana (PPO)
and Anthem Blue Access (PPO), they will still be offered at no charge and you
should fill out and turn in your medical insurance open enrollment forms.
Even though the Metro Government has chosen to disrespect the membership by
this direct contract violation, the public supports the officers of the Louisville
Metro Police Department. We must maintain our Professionalism, Courage and
Integrity as we go through yet another issue with the Metro Government. Continue
to serve and protect the public even though the Government chooses to make
those that protect this community feel insecure in their wages and benefits.
The FOP is working hard to fix this situation through grievance procedures,
and a possible lawsuit. We need your help to accomplish our goals.
