A few local attorneys attempted to have dui cases dismissed against their clients because the arresting officers were not present in court...They were absent on the day in question because they were attending the funeral of slain officer, Peter Grignon.
Asst. County Attorney, Robert Fleck, was so outraged by the tactics of these defense attorney's that he faxed a memo to several local departments urging them "..to show these attorneys the same level of respect that they have shown officer Grignon."
Two of the attorneys, Keith Kamenish and John Olash, defended their actions by stating that their job is to defend their clients to the best of their ability. Mr. Kamenish further stated that Mr. Fleck, "...Tried to make this about Officer Grignon, and this was not about Officer Grignon."
Mr. Fleck later issued an apology for faxing the memo.
