The Louisville Metro Police Department S.W.A.T team is attempting to regroup after recent command changes prompted numerous S.W.A.T officers to resign. Major Bill Weedman, head of special operations, named a former JCPD Lieutenant to be the joint commander of the unit who, in turn, chose another former JCPD Lieutenant to be his assistant. This change in command eliminated 2 former LPD Lieutenants positions who were sharing joint command of the merged teams.
It is unclear at this time how many vacancies have been created due to the resignations.
