Louisville Metro police are investigating a double homicide.

LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said two bodies were found in an alley in the 4000 block of River Park Drive around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators believe the two youths found dead are teenagers. Police won't say how the victims died.

"Some type of foul play," Mitchell said

Donna Beasley, who lives in the area, said she saw the bodies. She said she noticed that the grass surrounding them was burnt.

"You go to church, you enjoy your pastor's message, some good praise and worship and then you come home and you find police almost barricading your house... or surrounding your house almost," Beasley said.

The Louisville Fire Department's arson unit is also assisting with the investigation, though members of the unit are not discussing their involvement.

"We don't know exactly what we have at this time and the situation is very fluid here," Mitchell said.

The double homicide comes a day after community members joined hands to take a stand against the violence.

"The churches got together, praying hands, then the next day, we have something to try to steal our joy. You know, people put two steps ahead to try to do something for the community and then we get a setback," church participant Anita Miles said.

"Obviously there is someone that did this and needs to be apprehended," Mitchell said. "It's very tragic anytime this happens. It appears to be some very young people involved in this and obviously our prayers go out to them and their families."

So far no arrests have been made.
