MetroSafe says an LMPD officer was involved in a shooting just before 8:00 p.m.Wednesday night and police say the suspect is dead.
The shooting happened on Flicker Road near Lassiter Middle School, though LMPD says the shooting did not occur on school property. Officers were dispatched on a call of shots fired in the area of Outer Loop and New Cut Road.
Louisville Metro Police say officers arrived on scene and exchanged fire with a man, who was shot and killed.
"We just heard about five shots, two different shot patterns," witness Eric Moore told WDRB News. "I'd say a few minutes went by and then the police officers came and then you see the two police officers going into the field, approached the ditch, a few minutes later I guess they found someone or something, you heard them say 'drop the gun', 'stop' multiple times."
Police say two officers have been placed on administrative leave during the investigation into the shooting which is standard procedure during officer involved shooting investigations.
