This week marks a painful anniversary for the Kentuckiana law enforcement community.
Officer Peter Grignon was a Louisville Metro Police officer and was killed in the line of duty eight years ago.
This week, his family, police and an organization that supports fallen emergency responders, will honor his sacrifice.
"He may no longer be physically with us, but his memory and his legacy are things that we want this community to remember," father of Officer Grignon, Don Grignon said.
In addition to financial support, Supporting Heroes also helps with funeral arrangements, something Don Grignon thought was just as important for his family.
"It's something that Rebecca, as the wife, and me, as the father, couldn't do because we were not functioning," Don Gringon said.
The family is planning a private ceremony honoring Peter Grignon this coming Saturday.
