Katie Bauer

Katie joined the WAVE 3 news team in October 2010 and she is thrilled to be back in Kentuckiana! Katie grew up right across the river in Floyds Knobs, Indiana and graduated from Floyd Central High School. She attended Ball State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications with an emphasis on news. Before graduating she interned at 84-WHAS News Radio in Louisville.

She got her career start as a reporter and photographer for NewsLink Indiana, WIPB-TV. Before WAVE, Katie worked in Lubbock, Texas at KCBD-TV. There she was given the opportunity to report on a wide variety of stories including the nationwide salmonella outbreak that was linked to an area peanut plant, and the ongoing lawsuit of former Texas Tech football coach Mike Leach.

Katie is an award winning journalist and has been recognized for her work numerous times by the Associated Press. She has also received two Lonestar EMMY "Excellence in My Market" awards.

Katie could not be more excited to be in the Bluegrass near family and friends. In her spare time she enjoys working out, cooking, and reading.
