Frances Kuo

Frances joined WAVE 3 News as a general assignment reporter in December 2003.

She hails from the Washington, D.C. area and has lived the typical nomadic life of someone in the news business. After receiving her undergraduate degree in communications and political science at Cornell University and her master's degree at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, she worked for 1-1/2 years as a newswriter at WFLD, the FOX-affiliate in Chicago.

After that, she was a reporter and anchor for WISE-TV, the NBC-affiliate in Fort Wayne Indiana, before making her move to the Bluegrass. Some of the main aspects that drew her to the news business are the opportunities to meet people from all walks of life and share their stories.

Frances speaks mandarin Chinese and French and lived in Paris for a year during college. She hopes to eventually combine her interests in journalism and international affairs towards a career as a foreign correspondent. She is a member of the Organization of Chinese-Americans Kentuckiana Chapter and the French cultural organization, Alliance Francaise.

In her spare time, she likes to read and sing jazz, especially the tunes of her favorite artist of all time, Diana Krall.
